Paul Mankiewich is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Cisco’s CTO for Mobility. In this role, he oversees Cisco’s mobility technology strategy and solutions that address service provider challenges of network reach and network intelligence. Additionally, he drives thought-leadership and next generation mobility architectures for service provider customers and broadly in the industry.
Mankiewich has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and networking industries, with a focus on wireless. He has expertise in converged solutions as well as individual network elements with extensive experience in the application space. An industry veteran, Mankiewich has held leadership and key technology positions throughout his career.
Prior to Cisco, Paul served as Global CTO for Service Provider at Juniper Networks. In that role, Paul was responsible for end-to-end network vision and architecture across all of Juniper’s products and their insertion into service provider networks. Prior to that, Paul spent over 10 years in various CTO roles for Mobility and Service Provider at Alcatel-Lucent. In these roles, he was responsible for end-to-end technology strategy, solutions and received numerous awards for product innovation. In addition, Paul served as Senior Vice President of Networking Research at Bell Laboratories, Alcatel’s innovation engine.
Paul has also made significant contributions to the mobile industry and has authored well over 100 technical papers related to wireless, networking and devices. Additionally, he has been an active spokesperson and member of key industry organizations including the FCC TAC, ATIS Executive Board and Board of Directors, and Chair of the TOPS Council.
Mankiewich holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook.
